The Xbox Pulse Red Controller – A Review

As a gamer, I have always been a fan of Xbox controllers. Recently, I bought the Pulse Red version of the Xbox Series X controller to supplement my Carbon Black controller which came with my Series X. In terms of new features, there aren’t many additions to these new Series X controllers. The “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” phrase comes to mind. That does mean that everything looks and feels very familiar, some may not like this, and some will. The Xbox Pulse Red controller was a new colour way to be added to my collection and here is my review of it.

Xbox Pulse Red Controller Design

The new Xbox Series X controllers don’t scream next-gen. It is all too familiar to be next-gen, but the design does work and works really well. The matte plastic shell that wraps around the Xbox Pulse Red controller looks great in the new colour way and pairs nicely with the white underside also seen on the Shock Blue controller. The design is comfortable to hold, and the button layout is familiar to anyone who has used an Xbox controller in the past. The D-pad has been redesigned and is now a hybrid between the Xbox Elite controller and the Xbox One controller. It’s a nice upgrade, and it feels great when playing games that require precision.

Xbox Pulse Red Controller Performance

The Xbox Pulse Red controller offers the same performance as the previous Xbox One controllers, but with a few minor upgrades. The controller now features a Share button, which allows you to take screenshots and record clips of your gameplay. The button is located in the center of the controller, making it easy to access. The controller also has a USB-C port for charging, which is a nice upgrade from the micro USB port on the Xbox One controllers. The controller is responsive, and the wireless connection is strong and reliable.

Xbox Pulse Red Controller Price

The Xbox Pulse Red controller is priced at the same level as the other Xbox Series X controllers, which is around £50. It’s a reasonable price for a quality controller that offers a comfortable design, good performance, and a stylish new colourway.

Conclusion

Overall, the Xbox Pulse Red controller is a great addition to the Xbox Series X lineup. It offers a comfortable design, good performance, and a stylish new colourway. The minor upgrades are nice, but the overall experience is very familiar to anyone who has used an Xbox controller in the past. If you’re looking for a new controller for your Xbox Series X, the Xbox Pulse Red controller is definitely worth considering.
